Welcome, busy bees! I love making pies at home, and recently, I’ve found a new favorite: my Shepherd’s Pie Recipe. This hearty and delicious meal brings together layers of seasoned meat, colorful veggies, and creamy mashed potatoes. Let’s get cooking! 🥘
I started by cooking diced onions in oil until they became soft and translucent. I added minced garlic for extra flavor. Next, I put ground beef in the pan, letting it turn brown while I broke it into small pieces. To make it richer, I mixed in tomato paste and let it cook for a couple of minutes.
Then I added diced carrots, giving a burst of color. While they softened, I really liked how the veggies mixed well with the meat. When the meat and veggies blended nicely, I poured in beef broth and a bit of Worcestershire sauce. The broth mixed with the flavors, making it really tasty.
Frozen peas and dried thyme joined in, adding color and smells. A little bit of salt and pepper combined all the flavors nicely. As the filling cooked, I worked on the mashed potatoes. I boiled chopped potatoes until they were soft, then mixed them into creamy perfection with butter and milk. 🧈🥔
In a baking dish, I spread the meat mixture evenly to make a solid base. I then put the creamy mashed potatoes on top, covering everything. Before baking the Shepherd’s Pie, I used a fork to make a pattern on the potato layer. This made it crisp up nicely while baking.
I put the Shepherd’s Pie in a hot oven and waited. After 20-25 minutes, the top became a lovely golden brown and the kitchen smelled amazing. 😍
Finally, I took the Shepherd’s Pie out, loving how it looked. I let it sit for a bit so the flavors could blend together.
The layers of flavors were like a warm hug on a chilly day. The meat was perfectly seasoned, tender, and mixed beautifully with the veggies. The mashed potatoes on top were creamy with a crispy texture that made every bite satisfying. I can proudly say that it’s undeniably one of the best Shepherd’s Pies I’ve ever had. Happy cooking, busy bees! 🐝
